Salon du Végetal, Angers, France, 20-22 February 2008
'Haute Couture' for French gardens: A very unconventional Syngenta plant wowed the Innovert Award jury at France's biggest event for professionals in the horticultural sector.
The 'umbrella' cyclamen won the first price in the category Novelties. Georges Swietlik, also know as 'Monsieur Cyclamen', Head of Production at the Syngenta Flowers site in Les-Ponts-de-Cés, explains: “The plant has a completely new look with its large white petals in the center and a rim of violet flat petals. It displays its full beauty particularly when viewed from above.” An ordinary Cyclamen has tiny sepals and they are hidden by upright petals.
The Salon du Végétal in Angers every year attracts about 600 exhibitors and over 17,000 visitors. The Syngenta stand around the theme Xperience the seasons reflected our all-year-round assortment, for example pelargonium for spring, begonia for summer, pansy and cyclamen for autumn and poinsettia for winter.
